Good News - November/December 2000

-Heather Rauschenberger has a new cat! "I found a dead mouse in the kitchen about 2 mos ago, and decided then and there we needed a cat. After all, they do deter mice by smell alone (at least in my experience, they tend to!), and cat food and the occasional vet bill for shots is a lot less expensive than mouse damage. So hunt, hunt, hunt. Something wrong with 'em all. Not used to kids. Not declawed in front (to keep Ian from getting scratched!). Not an adult about 2-3 yrs old. FINALLY found one the other day - dear Emily, a mostly black calico spay with bright chartreuse eyes. Very pretty, even-tempered, and even puts up with Ian's too-hard patting and loving. (He keeps trying to cover her up with a blanket whenever she lays down to take a nap.......) She's also a hefty 15 lbs or so - big for a female shorthair!

-Heather Gndiovec also has some good news. "I just started training an Arabian mare named Timp. If things go well with her, I might get to train some other horses that belong to her owner. "

-Beth Gustas also has some good news to share. "In early September, I started a new job as a contract jr. web developer with the Bureau of Land Management. I'm not working directly with the Wild Horse & Burro sites (save posting occasional press releases about them -- if you're interested in wild horses, they are desperate for homes right now due to the number of animals they had to pull off the range because of fires & drought) but it's good experience and an interesting job!"

-Vikki Johnson qualified her beloved Kafar Ibn Mordred for NAN with a second place in Arabian Costume at the Delmarva Live Model Horse Show on October 14th. Vikki vowed that if Ibn Mordred qualified for NAN 2001, she was going to Lexington, KY next year. She is now shaking her penny jar and making tentative plans to attend her first NAN/Breyerfest next summer.

-James Hopkins also has some good news to share. "I became an uncle for the first time Sept 7, 2000 when my baby sister Meaghan had her son Trevor. My SO survived emergency gall bladder removal on Sept 19, 2000 after he came about 6 hours away from dropping dead from the infection, and now his tumor is also in remission. Sept 23 I attended my first live show and brought home 2 NAN cards (one for OF ceramic, one for CM stablemates), and a reserve championship for OF drafters.

-Daralyn Wallace also has good news. "My son Aaron Wallace is getting married to Tami Smith on Dec. 16th. :-) Aaron graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice last December from San Houston Sate University, but he is currently managing a coffee house and enjoying it immensely. Tami is in her 3rd year of veterinary school here at Texas A&M."

-Laurel Dedes has lots of good news to share!" "Pristine's black 99 Desperado V filly, named Pristines Pearl, was named Junior Champion filly at her 2nd Class A show. At the Eastern Regional Live show, I had the thrill of having 2 Champions, 2 Reserve Champions, and 20 NAN qualifying horses :-) The NAN qualifying adults can be found on my s/d listing (except those pending pedigrees!). Perhaps the placings that pleased me most were my much loved little Arabian baby, Wa-Marah, who doesn't always photo show well, but NANed at the Live show, and Minnemota, circa 1980, who won the "Vintage Custom" class, and also placed in the open classes!!! Also, I was the proud owner of the winning dog in the Dogs class, Wolfgang vom Althaus, Beswick GSD. I donated all the money I won from the Vintage Customs and the Dogs back to the show, which was a benefit for horse rescue. I was really happy to be able to give that little extra back to such a good cause (not to mention a fun show!) Last good news- I'm finally getting to host an IPABRA point show! I'm already looking forward to February!"

-Chris Wallbruch has some good news as well. "I am now riding at a new barn! I am riding at Arabian Knights Farm in Clarendon Hills, Illinois. I am still training on Saddlebreds on saddleseat but the barn is primarily an Arabian one. I really enjoy the barn and my new trainer is excellent (and a slave-driver, too!)"

Got GOOD NEWS? Send it in! :)
